Coming to you live from Paris, Arjun Kalsy, head of ecosystem at Mantle, and Jordi Alexander, chief alchemist at Mantle, converse on a series of new developments. Here’s a recap to ensure you’re up to speed on all things Mantle. Let’s dive in!
Mainnet is live & received a warm reception at EthCC! Arjun is getting a lot of attention walking around with his Mantle t-shirt, and getting questions from individuals and protocols on how to get involved. Jordi is also experiencing this and is looking forward to all the integrations and partnerships the team has planned.
Mantle Ecosystem Expansion. Mantle Network’s layer-2 solution is getting the right affirmation from a technological perspective as other blockchains, such as Celo, employ similar design structures. Additionally, Mantle Network has strong ecosystem support, being decentralized from the start and having been created from a DAO vote. Arjun looks forward to seeing an already large ecosystem expand as more builders go live.
Rapid Developments Around the $MNT Token. $MNT token is live on several exchanges! Arjun is looking forward to all the opportunities the $MNT token will bring as we evolve from solely a governance use case.
A Successful Rebrand. Jordi discusses the significance of the rebrand, stating that a month ago most people didn’t realize that BitDAO was Mantle. Within the next month we’re not going to get this question anymore, and the focus will be solely on Mantle and Mantle Network.
EcoFund is Going Live! We’ve got the ecosystem fund approved, and we’ll start to see the 1st allocation of that shortly going to top tier projects with the first tranche of $10M going live. The ecosystem invests together with the top venture partners, meaning whoever has the $MNT token can participate and access deals with the same exact terms as the VC insiders. Additionally, exits are also done together. We’re excited about aligning incentives between the ecosystem participants and the VCs that join Mantle Ecosystem!
Modularity & Mantle’s Pragmatic Approach. Developers are happy about the prevailing approach around modularity, and excited to see more and more chains coming around to the modularity thesis. Jordi affirms that we’ll continue to see more modular deployments, and if you look at the bigger picture outside of just blockchains, you’ll see the modular approach for several tech assets. It’s all about finding the right balance between modularity & complexity, and he believes Mantle has taken a very pragmatic approach.
Mantle Network and Blockchain Governance. Mantle as an ecosystem was started out of a DAO vote. A lot of the critical decisions such as the ecosystem fund have been made via governance. Mantle Network’s goal is to find the sweet spot of getting more and more involvement from the community while balancing the flexibility of the team running the chain. Jordi chimes in discussing that most large DAOs follow a council system that elects individuals tasked with full-time responsibilities, following all governance developments and communicating effectively with all participants. The combination of different council members who do the initial groundwork and bring it back to the broader DAO for further discussion and a vote is the most effective.
Allocating parts of Mantle Treasury strategically to align projects and user incentives is a key task for council members. We’ll start to see innovative proposal discussions around incentives and alignment between builders & network participants shortly.
Cambrian Explosion of New DApps. We’re starting to see several NFT & gaming projects go live. Additionally, core infrastructure such as LayerZero is live as well. Stay updated with all the new projects by checking out the ecosystem page on mantle.xyz. The team does a fantastic job of keeping the page up to date!
In Summary
Mainnet is live! We’re continuing to see a plethora of new dApps go live and look forward to even more growth with the rollout of the ecosystem fund. Be sure to follow the ecosystems page to stay up to date with the Mantle network ecosystem. Until next time!
